15 Gifts for a Friend Going Through IVF Treatment

For someone going through an IVF cycle, there is a lot to think about — from meds, to appointments, to trying to maintain a healthy outlook. With so much on your plate, there’s nothing like receiving a thoughtful gift from a friend that says, ‘I see you, and I’m here to help you through it.’

We’ve rounded up the products our patients appreciated receiving most during their cycles, to help you show up for your love one when they’re going through fertility treatments:

1. Portable heating pad

During IVF treatment, patients are taking injections to help stimulate their ovaries, and the follicles inside. Because more than one follicle is being ‘grown’ (as in what happens during a normal menstrual cycle), there can often be cramping, just like with a typical cycle. A tried-and-true staple for most people with cramps, this portable heating pad is a step up from the ones that need to be plugged in and keep you contained to one corner of your couch.

2. Cosmetic pouch for meds

Whether or not you’ve seen the number of meds that people are dealing with during an IVF cycle, you can rest assured that a cute cosmetic pouch to store them will brighten their day. For a super functional option, you can check out Myvitro. For something more fun and useable for more than just meds, we love this smiley one from Amazon.

3. Shot blocker

If a shot blocker isn’t their style, but they still want something to help with the discomfort after the injection, this cute and functional vibrating ice pack will do the trick. Providing a small amount of ‘massage,’ combined with the frozen aspect, this product promises to keep any injection discomfort to a minimum.

4. Vibrating ice pack

If a shot blocker isn’t their style, but they still want something to help with the discomfort after the injection, this cute and functional vibrating ice pack will do the trick. Providing a small amount of ‘massage,’ combined with the frozen aspect, this product promises to keep any injection discomfort to a minimum.

5. A spa gift card

With all the stress physically and mentally, the gift of a spa day is much appreciated. Whether they use it for a massage, an acupuncture treatment, or a facial, you know they’re bound to love the excuse to have a little R&R.

6. Candle

The candle has been labeled the ‘I don’t know what to buy you’ gift, but I think it deserves more than that! There are plenty of wonderful candles that can help set the mood to relax and restore. We love brands like Snif and Boy Smells.

7. Essential oils for calm

Essential oils aren’t for everyone, but many have expressed gratitude for the calming effects of ones that include lavender or peppermint. Saje makes high-quality oils and offers a variety of case-specific blends. We recommend Tranquility to help unwind at the end of a long day, or even for a midday relaxation bump.

8. Weighted blanket

Another product to help them relax and restore, weighted blankets claim to aid in deeper sleep cycles and a more revitalized morning the next day. We also love them for unwinding on the couch at the end of a chaotic day! You can find a variety of different shapes, colors, and weights online. Bearaby is a great option, as well as this Amazon one for a more budget friendly option.

9. Pineapple necklace

Pineapples are the unofficial symbol of the Infertility Community. You can find a multitude of options that sport the pineapple, but our favorite is this necklace!

10. Sweatsuit or Pajamas

As their IVF treatment moves along, they are likely to want to spend more and more time in stretchy, comfortable clothing. We love sweatsuits from Daily Drills, Richer Poorer, and Nuuds. Looking for a PJ option? Eberjey, Amazon Essentials, and Lunya all have great options in a variety of styles and price points.

11. Socks

For the doctors appointments, the days at home, and everything in between, a pair of warm and comforting socks can go a long way! From simple to pineapple themed, anything soft or fuzzy will be well loved.

12. P.volve Movement Program

Movement during fertility treatments can be so helpful for your mental health. Spring developed a program with P.volve to help patients move safely during fertility treatments. The program lives within the P.volve platform — you can gift a subscription and use code ‘SPRING20’ for 20% off!

13. Meal Delivery Services or Gift Cards

While going through an IVF cycle, it’s nice to have something as simple as your meals taken care of. These days, there are so many great options to treat someone! Send them an UberEats gift card, a week-long Sakara subscription (use code ‘PN_SPRING20’ for 20% off!) or find a local chef to prepare homemade meals. Or even better, drop off one of your own homemade meals for them to enjoy!

14. Chocolate

The trope of women loving chocolate while on their periods is so overdone (but also so true?). Who doesn’t love receiving sweets! Some of our favorite brands are Hu, Tony’s, and Theo.

15. Dog walking

This last ‘gift’ option is an easy and much appreciated one! In the theme of taking tasks off their plate, offering to walk their dog while they’re at appointments will go a long way.
